Five-Star Code ("we", "us", or "our") operates Starbase, a desktop code review application, and the website at https://fivestarcode.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. If you sign in via GitHub or Bitbucket, we receive your username and email from those services.

Waitlist

If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address and the plan tier you expressed interest in.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. Stripe may collect information as described in their privacy policy.

Usage Data

We track AI token usage (input and output token counts per review) to enforce plan limits. We do not store the content of your code reviews or your source code on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To communicate with you about your account, updates, or support requests
  • To notify waitlist members when new features become available

3. Your Code and Repositories

Starbase is a desktop application. Your source code is processed locally on your machine and is never stored on our servers. When you use AI review features, code snippets are sent to third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic and xAI) for analysis. Please review the privacy policies of the AI providers for details on how they handle data.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Back4App (Parse) — account and subscription data
  • Anthropic (Claude) — AI code review
  • xAI (Grok) — AI code review

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Token usage records are retained for billing and analytics purposes.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

You may:

  • Access or update your account information at any time
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Unsubscribe from marketing communications
